Hungary - From Europe Agreement to a Member Status in the European Union

The development of Hungary from the signing of the Europe Agreement to a membership in the European Union is analyzed under three aspects: the implementation of the Europe Agreement (in particular: trade and accompanying policies in the movement of persons and capital, agricultural trade, economic and financial cooperation, competition law, approximation of laws, institutional connections), the additional elements in the adaptation of Hungary to the European Union (volontary adaptation to Community Law, common foreign policy, cooperation in the fields of home affairs and justice) and the fulfillment of the criteria of accession by Hungary (functioning market economy, capacity to resist competition in the internal market, stability of democratic institutions, agricultural markets, monetary policy).
