Description
This edited work brings together a collection of case study-based research projects, which address gender land rights in the face of land tenure commodification and social and economic transformation. The case studies from Ghana, Ethiopia, Madagascar and South Africa underline the complexity of land rights and scrutinise how women negotiate their rights and obligations in different local contexts. The article adds an intersectional perspective to discussion on land tenure and land commodification by showing that women are affected in different ways depending on their age, marital status, class, race, migration background, how able-bodied they are and ethnic belonging.
