Rudolf Bahros Gefängnisschriften
calcActive())">
Description
For a citizen of the GDR in 1977, publishing a critical analysis of the socialist system in the West was the fastest way to end up in Bautzen prison. The Marxist and communist Rudolf Bahro confidently chose this path. This volume contains more than 80 texts documenting what was probably the most dishonest criminal trial of the Honecker dictatorship, as well as Bahro's entire period of imprisonment. Despite all the harassment, he resisted the Stasi intelligently and, in addition to his forced labour, wrote a large number of political texts in his cell. These are published here for the first time, drawn from the manuscripts. An interview with his lawyer, Gregor Gysi, and their conversations in prison provide further insight into Bahro's imprisonment.
