Are politicians, especially members of the government, allowed to work in the private sector without a waiting period after their term of office? After all, such a change goes hand in hand with the "bad appearance" that the politician sells his internal knowledge from his tenure to the highest bidder, or had already aligned his actions to the interests of his future employer during his tenure.
Legislators reacted to such discussions in the course of Gerhard Schröder's or Ronald Pofalla's post-official work in summer 2015. The present work analyzes whether the revision was necessary, but also whether it was sufficient, and tests the standards found on the basis of an empirical survey.
