Kompendien der Sozialen Arbeit
Description
The second, updated and expanded edition of this volume offers a multi-perspective view of counselling and includes specialist and interdisciplinary contributions on the scientific foundations of counselling, while also developing the various formats and settings of psychosocial counselling between social work and therapy. The book is intended to both serve counsellors in their work and provide students of counselling with a stimulus for academic reflection on their subject.
To a large extent, counselling is designed for participation and involvement. This is especially true in situations where people seek counselling because they are experiencing crises which they cannot or can hardly find a way out of on their own. In these emergency situations, it can easily happen that those who receive counselling attribute a kind of superiority to the counsellor. Then, it is part of a counsellor’s professionalism to constantly reflect on his or her own effectiveness. Understood in this way, counselling makes a significant contribution to individuation, autonomy and the overall development of people.
With contributions by
Jörg Baur, Tanja Hoff, Rolf Jox, Rainer Krockauer, Andreas Reiners, Franz-Christian Schubert, Isabell Stobba, Armin G. Wildfeuer and Renate Zwicker-Pelzer.

Reviews
