Dimensionen der Sorge

The volume takes an interdisciplinary approach to address the question of how concern, as a fundamental existential constant, manifests in modern present-day societies. Conceptually, the articles in this book distinguish three dimensions of concern: concern for oneself, concern for others, and concern for the environment. These dimensions are also considered from a genealogical perspective. This opens up a wide and comprehensive field of research in which heterogeneous empirical phenomena, complex developments in society, and central ethical questions are addressed from theological, social scientific and philosophical perspectives. The aim of this field of research is to let these perspectives interact with one another and thus to use and establish concern as a key concept for the analysis of late-modern society. This research has been conducted in the context of the Dimensions of Concern special research unit at Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst.
