Description
Does civil society accept deliberate climate interventions? This book shows how NGOs have reacted to climate engineering (CE) proposals. Thus, it helps to understand an increasingly important climate policy controversy.
The study is based on qualitative social research and informed by sociological systems theory. It suggests NGOs do not treat the speculative option of CE primarily as a technological risk that triggers protest. Rather, they observe CE as a potentially consequential debate. They anticipate a societal dynamic through which CE becomes what many already see it as today: an indispensable tool in the fight against anthropogenic climate change.
