The dissertation reappraises the problems of age differentiation highly topical in the German civil service law from union-juridical and constitutional-juridical perspective by case groups and discusses how offence affects the civil servants´ status relation. For many still unsettled legal issues logical and practical solutions are developed dogmatically. Legal and administrative age differentiations are treated in the status- and not status-related area of the official's relation. In detail it is about legal age limits for the civil servant´s appointment, his advancement and retirement, further about age-related differentiations in his place occupation procedure and about those dealing with working hours and holiday times as well as salary and pension expectancy. On account of the not seldom fiscal motivation of age-related differentiations the topical jurisdiction of the Federal Constitutional Court is also picked out as a central theme to the official's salary and is submitted to a critical assessment.
