Details
25 years of the Saxon constitutional tribunal are not only reason to reflect on its own past effects. It also gives reason to analyse the current position of constitutional tribunals within the organisation of the federal state and its federations. Four contributions to this volume explain the scope of actions that are linked to the constitutional tribunals of German federations. Two examples of the Federal Constitutional Court show settled case jurisdiction in connection to federal constitutional and state law. Peter M. Huber, judge of the Federal Constitutional Court, contemplates the necessity and the possibility of autonomy of constitutional tribunals. He analyses their independence in connection with the political situations of the states as well as their effects on the German federal framework and within the daily experiences of the Federal Constitutional Court. Thus, the idea of the Alliance of Constitutional Tribunals within the German federal state is justified. With contributions by President of the Constitutional Court of the Free State of Saxony, Birgit Munz; President of the Saxon Landtag, Dr. Matthias Roessler; Saxon State Minister of Justice, Sebastian Gemkow; Judge of the Federal Constitutional Court Prof. Dr. med. Peter Michael Huber
