Details
This book collates the lectures given at the symposium entitled ‘The effects of Germany’s new law on building contracts on notarial practice’, which was organised by and held at the Institute for Notary Law in Jena. Not only did countless changes to the general law on contracts for work and services come into effect on 1st January 2018, but the specific types of building contracts, including architectural contracts, engineering contracts, building contractor contracts and those by which a consumer obliges a construction company to undertake building work, were also regulated by law.
However much these revisions to the law are to be welcomed in principle, they have led to uncertainty and dispute, particularly in the practical sphere. On the one hand, the contributions compiled in this book, which are written exclusively by renowned authors from the field of private construction law, are therefore intended to provide both an explanatory overview of the reforms and insights into the legislative process; on the other, they also discuss many detailed questions and offer possible solutions to them.
