Die Diktatur des Islamischen Staates und seine normative Grundlage

Sovereignty needs to be justified. This also applies to the dictatorship of Islamic State (ISIS). But how does ISIS attempt to normatively legitimise its political system, which is not just the result of a purely nihilistic power project? This study explores this core question and classifies ISIS' form of dictatorship. In doing so, it does not only deal with a purely political science analysis, but also includes an Islamic studies perspective: After all, the ISIS jihadists try to legitimate their system of governance from within Islam. Knowledge of the nature of the justification of ISIS’ jihadist rule is the basic prerequisite for combating this ideology and its conceptions of an Islamic state.
