Die indirekte Bankenaufsicht durch die Europäische Zentralbank

The concept of indirect banking supervision by the ECB describes the approach taken within the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) to the surveillance of less significant institutions. Under the ECB’s oversight, day-to-day supervision is primarily carried out at national level. The instruments, which the ECB uses to ensure a uniform application of banking regulations in the SSM, as well as the tasks and powers of national authorities, are assessed in addition to evaluating administrative and judicial protection schemes. The author draws on his experience in the industry and of working for European and national supervisors. He aims not only to contribute to the scientific discourse surrounding the SSM, but also addresses practitioners.
