Die neue Europäische Union

The European Union (EU) is in a perpetual state of crisis, reacting to emerging challenges rather than actively shaping them. In addition to the ‘old’ narrative of a process of integration that ensures peace and welfare, there is an increasing perception of European disunity and national egoism. This is the face of a new European Union in which the simultaneous processes of integration and disintegration are no longer contradictory and in which the question of the future and goal of the European project must be posed anew.

In the contributions to this volume, renowned experts in European studies discuss the extent to which the increasing trends of disintegration can be reconciled with the process of European integration and what this means for the future shape of the EU.
