The book analyses the significance of the United Nations Organisation and its Charter within the law of international organisations. It examines the legal position of the United Nations in relation to other international organisations and shows whether and to what extent the other international organisations are bound by United Nations law. To this end, the author identifies the characteristics of international organisations that determine their relationship to each other. He argues that international organisations are basically equal and autonomous entities. Finally, he explains in detail that the United Nations must be accorded a legally effective priority over other international organisations. He proves that the other international organisations are obliged, when exercising their powers, to at least take the law of the United Nations into consideration.
