Details
Despite countless conflicts, especially since the end of the Cold War, the transatlantic community has proved to be robust and adaptable in the face of new security situations, external threats and internal challenges, with its members continually finding ways to address and overcome crises. The thesis which underlies this anthology is that the members of the security community share enough norms and institutions to enable them to deal with any disputes constructively. The fact that those norms have evolved and that the members’ institutional resources have regularly been consolidated indicates continual change, which is nevertheless being constantly tested—not least in the era of Donald Trump. Against this backdrop, the contributions to this volume present entirely different findings on not only the foundations of the transatlantic community, but also its ability to take action.
