Faszination Antike

The impact of antiquity in history, literature and visual art is presented in its versatility and multiplicity. All contributions come from the editorial and advisory boards of the Metamorphoses series covering various questions, contents and methods in dealing with the impact of antiquity from the 15th century to modern times. Central questions such as the self-representation of rulers, the impact of Greek philosophy, the moralization of antiquity, and the educational background of the Goethe era, but also the way museums deal with their own historical collection are addressed.
