Details
Medical terminal care raises intricate normative questions which have recently come to the fore in the context of the controversial discussion of the criminalization of the professional advancement of suicide (§ 217 StGB [German Criminal Code]). These issues were the focus of an interdisciplinary symposium which took place on 20th and 21st September 2018 at the University of Bielefeld and at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF). The volume documents the presentations given at the symposium, which examine the general subject from a medical, historical, philosophical and legal perspective. It aims at promoting interdisciplinary discourse on the fundamental questions and current challenges of medical terminal care and is therefore not only aimed at legal practitioners, but at all representatives of the professions involved in this type of treatment.
