Details
Shakespeare's tragedy of Hamlet, written in AD 1600, represents an alienated criminal story of retaliation for a political murder, whilst the political system of the murderer is gradually shrouded by an insidious empire of surveillance. In our present circumstances of massive control by all forms of surveillance, affecting us all, an interpretation of Hamlet's political and philosophical resistance should be examined by less innocent minds than before. This current interpretation attempts to meet the challenges of the philosophically demanding drama with a net of intertextual, philosophical and political approaches, thus critically connecting renaissance and contemporary political culture.
