Description
Human Resources Management for Public Enterprises is an attempt to understand the various aspects of worker needs and job requirements in Nepalese manufacturing centers for certain work and technological level, based on the primary responses of workers themselves. In the effort to develop an improved job design it may also be useful for other Third World areas finding themselves under similar economic conditions. The results of this study reinforces the assumption that shop-floor jobs are generally considered routine and non-motivating. The overall consensus among workers is that job design dimensions are unsatisfactory on the shop-floor. This fact however, has no effect on workers remaining on the job, due to economic necessity alone. A program of organizational change at the bottom level would have a great effect on the future lives of the workers.
