Jüdische Musik

A continuous development of Jewish music can be traced back almost 2500 years, despite all the historical interruptions. This music is an important expression of Jewish identity, its various forms and genres reflecting the pluralism and diversity of Jewish life. This book focuses on the transcultural nature of Jewish music, which it presents as a modern, international phenomenon characterised by exchange, openness and diversity. Through this depiction, the history of Jewish music appears in its entire spectrum, in its cultural and historical context and in its close interweaving with other religions and cultures.
