By means of abstract groups of cases regarding the design possibilities of headscarf bans, Valérie Kornemann offers an overview of legitimate designs and facilitates the legal assessment in individual cases. The author examines to what extent employers are entitled to establish headscarf bans in their companies, how these bans can be structured on a legal and linguistic level and which relevant legal sources exist for this. In addition, she presents the current state of the highest court rulings before regulating and evaluating the individual headscarf bans in terms of equal treatment law.
