Details
This anthology discusses digitalisation from the theoretical perspective of Plessner’s philosophical anthropology. Thus, it pursues the question of whether and how far the relationship between humans and the world is being changed and characterised by digitalisation. Humans are thereby understood as combining material and cognitive aspects in their eccentric positionality. This book’s analytical perspectives of and on Plessner allow us to systemise the diversity of different understandings of digitalisation according to the question of how humans are building a world which could potentially overcome them. Hence, it focuses on five aspects: society, autonomy, technology, steps and, finally, humans themselves. What are the characteristics of a digital society? Is the epoch of individual freedom coming to an end? How is digitalisation affecting human autonomy? How can the relationship between humans and technology be addressed? Will digitalisation eventually become superior to humans? And where do humans stand in the digital revolution?
