Details
Modern training methodology without computer-based movement analysis is simply inconceivable. However, it is no substitution for critical dialogue between the trainer and the athlete. For all the mechanisation of everyday training, the pedagogical skills of the trainer are ultimately decisive in any success. 'Modern Training Methodology' provides concrete suggestions for the technical and didactic optimisation of training processes in practical training. Of particular importance here is the analysis of individual movements, which are represented using detailed biomechanical investigations into hurdling, long-jump and javelin throwing. The focal point of this is the joint analysis of the investigation results by the athletes and the trainer, and converting this into practical training.
The study was carried out with young athletes over a period of three years, during which numerous sporting successes right up to the German Championships were achieved.
The possible increases in performance are shown which can be achieved by using technical aids as part of an individual pedagogical monitoring programme. Being made aware of one's own movements had the long-term effect of significantly improving the quality of movement.
The technical and financial effort that computer-assisted movement analysis requires is also addressed, however, as are problems with individual pedagogical support in the training community. It is not always possible to attend to all individual demands and moods of the members within a training community. This requires pedagogical skill and tactfulness.
