Today, hardly any real estate project is marketed without having its own name. However, the legal protection of real estate designations has been discussed only sporadically within jurisprudence and legal literature. The present work fills this gap. Following the introductory illustration of the significance of real estate designations from the perspective of the real estate industry, the legal possibilities of a protection of real estate names are discussed. In addition to the possible protection of a real estate designations as trademarks, company names and work titles, the protection of real estate names under the German Civil Code as well as the requirements for such protection are in the center of the analysis.
