Details
In its current form, the EU is incapable of overcoming its crises, which is why it needs to undergo deep-seated reform. The EU is primarily needed for peace, prosperity in its common internal market, to compensate for the relative smallness and weakness of its member states and to uphold the fundamental principles of Western civilisation. A return to nation states would be an error; however, because of its advantages in comparison to the EU, a well constituted nation state should not be disregarded. This book proposes, among other things, restructuring the EU’s legal system and treaties, upgrading the status of national parliaments, subordinating the role of the European Commission, establishing a court of appeal, changing the composition of the European Central Bank and improving the eurozone. If these suggestions were put into practice, the EU could be organised more effectively in the future.

Review
