Religion als Kunst
Tectum, 1. Edition 2022, 366 Pages
Details
How do members of different religions understand their own art? What are the statements of their religions that are expressed in the works of art - and what is the respective formal language of art that they use? This work takes us into the depths of the religions to answer these questions from the perspective of religious studies. Examples include art objects such as the dancing Shiva, the Buddha statue, the script of the Koran, the Torah scroll, African masks or the crucifix. Finally, a personal interreligious work of art on the 57th sura of the Quran shows how religious mediums of art can be dealt with constructively on a scientific basis.
