Details
The book examines recent developments in the European social dialogue involving umbrella organizations of employers and trade unions. The results of this dialogue increasingly take the form of implementation-oriented albeit legally non-binding texts. However, theoretical approaches and empirical evidence of underlying implementation processes as well as of related problems and effects are scarce. The book addresses this shortcoming and provides both an analytical framework and empirical evidence of a case study of two sectoral social dialogues. By analyzing the interlinkages of the supranational and national levels, the book pays particular attention to the national members of the European umbrella organizations. The book explores the regulatory potential of social dialogue via legally non-binding texts and contributes to theory building on forms of soft regulation within the EU.
