The strengthening of children‘s rights through the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and its three additional protocols influences general human rights protection both at the universal and regional level. The provisions of the UN Convention have also an increasingly impact on national legal systems. Special emphasis is placed on the UN human rights covenants (ICCPR and ICESCR) as well as on the guarantees of the European Convention on Human Rights.
