Dichten und Denken – Der »Gang« ins Wirkliche

This study is the first to comprehensively address the metapoetry of the Büchner Prize winner Ernst Meister in terms of its development and the richness of its facets. In his poetry, to what extent does the poet and thinker reflect on the process of its creation and its perception? Which poetological metaphors did he use to formulate his lyrical thoughts? In a longitudinal section, analyses and interpretations of poems from all phases of his oeuvre are undertaken on the basis of these and other research questions. In this respect, it is often an investigation of Meister’s estate poetry and textual geneses that provides insights into his poetological linguistic images and working methods in the dynamic creative process.
