Europe - Southeast Asia in the Contemporary World: Mutual Images and Reflections 1940s-1960s

The present book offers 15 contributions which are a second result of "joint research" undertaken by a group of historians from various universities in Europe and Southeast Asia. They concentrate on the era of change from colonialism to independence in Southeast Asia between the 1940s and the 1950s, focussing on mutual images and reflections of Europeans and Southeast Asians during that period. The common theme is the experience of and reaction to the colonial impact and the process of decolonisation.
