EU-ASEAN Economic Relations: The Impact of the Asian Crisis on the European Economy and the Long-Term Potential

The Asian Crisis has received much attention and has become a major topic for discussion since it erupted in 1997. As a number of ASEAN countries have been directly involved, it is interesting to see how this would impact on economic relationships between the ASEAN countries and Europe.
This volume presents a set of work written with a European perspective. The papers are supplemented by comments from Asian discussants that reflect their perspectives.
For closer ASEAN-EU relations, the crisis has given both sides the opportunity to work, once more, for a long-term perspective beyond the recent turmoil.
