Looking into the Future of Cyprus-EU Relations

The authors in this book, both Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot researchers as well as experts from Europe and the US, are addressing these questions taking into consideration the implications Cyprus’s potential EU membership has on the security concerns and economic prosperity of the Cypriot people. The EU’s decision to include Cyprus in the next enlargement has given fresh impetus for international mediation, yet the analyses of the options and perspectives for a settlement serve to highlight the diverging interests and the deep-seated mistrust of the parties to the conflict, which have so far been in the way of successfully reuniting the island.
