Die Reihe soll ein internationales Forum für die interdisziplinäre Erforschung der Geschichte der westlichen antiken Philosophie vom ca. 1. bis 7. Jahrhundert n. Chr. bieten. Neben dem Neuplatonismus, der im Verbund mit aristotelischer Theoriebildung zum vorherrschenden philosophischen Paradigma der Spätantike avancierte, werden andere philosophische Schulen der Zeit berücksichtigt, darunter auch christliche Denker. Der Schwerpunkt der Reihe liegt auf dem philosophischen Inhalt ebenso wie der literarischen Form der überlieferten Texte und verbindet analytische mit philologischen Ansätzen. Die Reihe wird von einem internationalen Team von Expert*innen im Bereich der spätantiken Philosophie herausgegeben und bietet Raum für Monographien, Sammelbände und Editionen antiker Texte. Einreichungen in englischer, französischer, deutscher oder italienischer Sprache sind jederzeit willkommen und erhalten eine rasche Rückmeldung durch die Herausgeber*innen.
Philosophy from Imperial Times to the End of Antiquity
The series aims to provide an international platform for interdisciplinary research on the history of Western ancient philosophy from, roughly, the 1st to the 7th century AD. While (Neo-)Platonism came to be the dominant philosophical paradigm of late antiquity, incorporating Aristotelian theorizing, other philosophical schools are also covered, including Christian thinkers. The series’ emphasis is both on the philosophical content and the literary form of the transmitted texts and thus combines analytical and philological approaches. Edited by an international team of experts in the field of late ancient philosophy, the series features monographs as well as collective volumes and editions of ancient texts. Submissions in English, French, German or Italian are always welcome and will receive quick feedback.
