Der Umgang mit Vulnerabilität und das Streben nach Resilienz prägen das persönliche und gesellschaftliche, das politische und religiöse Leben. Gleichzeitig wird das Vulneranzpotenzial von Vulnerabilität und Resilienz – also deren mögliche Gewaltsamkeit – unterschätzt oder verdrängt. Auf Vulnerabilitätserfahrungen reagieren Menschen häufig mit Vulneranz; oder aber mit Zuwendung, Fürsorge und Solidarität. Resilienz wiederum entwickelt sich in kreativen Prozessen, kann jedoch auch durch Vulneranz erzeugt werden und Anderen Schaden zufügen.
Es ist Aufgabe interdisziplinärer Forschung, die multiplen Machtwirkungen von Vulnerabilität, Resilienz und Vulneranz in ihrer Ambivalenz und Komplexität zu analysieren. Die zweisprachige Reihe Vulnerabilität, Vulneranz, Resilienz / Vulnerability, Vulnerance, Resilience widmet sich dieser wichtigen, gesellschaftsrelevanten Aufgabe. Sie untersucht die genannten Prozesse in Bereichen wie Migration, Rechtspopulismus, Demokratie, Klimawandel, Sexualität, Gender und fragt auch nach dem Einfluss physischer wie psychischer Traumata.
Zur Prüfung einer Aufnahme in die Reihe können hochwertige Monografien, Qualifikationsschriften und Sammelbände eingereicht werden. Sie können aus einem Einzelfach stammen oder fächerübergreifend angelegt sein.
Dealing with vulnerability and striving for resilience characterise personal, social, political and religious life. At the same time, the potential of vulnerability and resilience for vulnerance – i.e. their possibly violent nature – is underestimated or suppressed. People often react to experiences of vulnerability with either vulnerance or with affection, care and solidarity. Resilience, on the other hand, develops in creative processes, but can also be generated by vulnerance and cause harm to others.
It is the task of interdisciplinary research to analyse the multiple power effects of vulnerability, resilience and vulnerance in their ambivalence and complexity. The bilingual series Vulnerabilität, Vulneranz, Resilienz / Vulnerability, Vulnerance, Resilience is dedicated to this important, socially relevant task. It analyses the aforementioned processes in relation to areas such as migration, right-wing populism, democracy, climate change, sexuality, gender and many more, and also examines the role of physical and psychological trauma.
High-quality monographs, university theses and anthologies can be submitted for consideration for inclusion in the series. They can originate from a single subject or be interdisciplinary.
